Circularity, over and
over and over again…
Case Study
Briefed to rethink their current office space and ways of working we tasked The Senator Group to explore ways of re-purposing, reusing, and up-cycling the clients existing furniture. The re-purposing program was underlined by a strong sense of responsibility and desire from the client to do the right thing and extend the lifespan of what they already owned.

Revitalising products, redefining value, extending product lifecycle.
The traditional way of procuring furniture means that every piece of furniture is made bespoke and owned by the end-user until it is obsolete.
Through our unique services, re:work not only extends the lifespan of your products but also helps preserve their financial value and the investment within them.

A circular economy is not just about creating loops, it’s about product life extension.
While recycling is a part of a circular economy, it’s only one piece of the circularity puzzle. A circular economy aims to minimise waste by keeping products in use for as long as possible through reuse, refurbishment, and remanufacturing, before eventually recycling materials when necessary.
For most of us, recycling at home has become second nature. It is socially ingrained in us as the right thing to do. But did you know that reuse and repair rank much higher than recycling in terms of stronger environmental impact? Not to say that recycling isn’t important — but few consider the amount of energy that is needed to fully recycle a material.
A core concept in a circular economy is designing products to be durable and last longer, actively working against planned obsolescence and market wastefulness. We are part of The Senator Group, an ethical furniture manufacturer which designs for a circular economy by prioritising the use of recycled and recyclable materials. The Senator Group engineers modular furniture that can be easily disassembled, reused, and reconditioned, extending product lifespans through durability and repair options, and collaborating with suppliers to create its own circular supply system, aimed at minimising waste and consumption.
We need to embrace a circular over a linear economy.
The economy is key to fighting climate change. Which is why we must shift from a linear to a circular model, to make sure society progresses in a way that is environmentally conscious.
In a traditional linear economy, raw materials are collected and made into products, then used until they are discarded as waste, with no concern for their ecological footprint and consequences. It prioritises profit over planet in a ‘take, make, waste’ process.
In a circular economy, production has as little impact as possible on the environment by leaving less of a footprint. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the three key elements that make up a solution framework in a circular model are: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials at their highest value, and regenerate nature; essentially focusing on design principles to minimise waste, maximise product lifespan, and restore natural systems.
Whereas a linear economy focuses on profitability, irrespective of the product life cycle, a circular economy targets sustainability along with prosperity.
How we source our furniture
Ex-subscription & Hire
We will take back any unused, discarded, or end-of life furniture to restore and repair. We can also repair any furniture on subscription.
Ex-stock
We have taken existing stock items and unwanted customer orders to be able to offer brand new products that would have otherwise been recycled.
Ex-use & reconditioned
We will take back any unused, discarded, or end-of life furniture to restore and repair. We can also repair any furniture on subscription.
Ex-display
Ex-display items from exhibitions, photoshoots, showrooms, samples and events.
Re:thinking the economy.
Climate change is no longer a futuristic concept, we are experiencing its devastating effects in the here and now. Sea levels are rising, the Arctic is melting, coral reefs are dying. Our newspapers are filled with pages of natural disasters, economic disruption, and food shortages as a symptom of human activity.
While science tells us that climate change is certain, it also tells us that it is not too late to lessen its effects. So, it will come as no surprise that 90% of organisations plan to increase their ESG investment in the next three years, according to 2024 research from KPMG.

Re:work is built on supporting a circular ecosystem.
By extending product lifespans, companies can reduce their need for virgin raw materials, potentially leading to cost savings as well as carbon reductions and improved resource efficiency. By creating a new type of economy, one where the environment is held in higher regard than financial gain, we can help in the fight against climate change and ecological degradation, as well as create valuable new ‘green’ job opportunities.
We invite you to join us on this journey as we create more and more sustainable products that are Reimagined | Restored | Retold.
