Who we are.
We offer a sustainability powered set of products and services which aim to extend product lifecycles, eliminate unnecessary waste and consumption, and promote the circular economy.
Let’s start with a not-so-fun fact – only 17% of disposed furniture is recycled in the UK. It takes more carbon to produce new furniture as opposed to refurbishing or remanufacturing, yet people are still choosing to throw away the old and buy new.
This means that thousands of tonnes of furniture end up in landfill. By reusing or reconditioning furniture, we can turn that around. That is the driving force behind re:work. We invite you to join us on this journey as we create more and more sustainable products that are Reimagined | Restored | Retold.
We can help with:
We share our resources.
We do not manufacture new products ourselves – quite the opposite – we often prefer to embrace and enable the old, rather than the new, but we are part of The Senator Group, a Lancashire based, family owned furniture manufacturer, that has been protecting people and planet while doing business for almost fifty years – long before the concept of responsible manufacturing became mainstream.
Is it strange that a furniture manufacturer would back a set of services that enable people to circulate and use old products for longer, before considering new? Probably. But The Senator Group recognises that ethical benefits ultimately outweigh financial ones
By tapping into The Senator Group’s sustainable manufacturing practices, we can pool our resources efficiently. Through Sustain – The Senator Group’s dedicated recycling centre, opened in 2007 – re:work can assess pre-owned products and material streams for remanufacturing and second life potential. Our end-of-life products can then be fully recycled by them, to lead the industry with self-managed, closed loop product cycles.
At the other end of a product’s life, we can lean on The Senator Group’s sustainable design experts to design for circularity from the start, ensuring disassembly for remanufacturing and recyclable materials are paramount. Our Group-level collaboration represents a truly unique ecosystem, and is an example of the circular economy in effect.
Our mission, vision and values
Eliminate waste and circulate furniture at its highest value
Using science, technology, and engineering, we want to raise the perceived value of preowned products, so that they are held in higher regard than their new counterparts. We want recycling to be a last resort and eliminate furniture of any condition being sent to landfill.
Disrupt the furniture industry
We will lead the furniture industry in embracing a circular economy. We will place ethics and the environment above all, to provide a choice of sustainable solutions with reduced carbon and resource impacts to businesses.
Redefine environmental responsibility
Our values are inherited from The Senator Group’s pledge to protect people and planet for nearly 50 years. In the spirit of consuming less, we will share the Group’s resources, along with bringing together people who care deeply about climate change. With customer and quality at our heart, we will grow on this journey with our clients, supporting their needs and sustainability goals.

Our home.
Re:work’s home is in Lancashire, nestled by the Pendle Water River that runs to the Lomeyshae Marsh Local Nature Reserve, only 200m away. The Biological Heritage Site was built in place of an old sewage works and we are regularly visited by the local wildlife, including owls, kestrels, herons, geese, pheasants, rabbits and sheep left free to graze, (and which we regularly herd out of the yard).
As well as the wildlife, we welcome visitors to come and have a brew and chat with us; and see our products and services first hand.
Re:think is part of ethical furniture manufacturer The Senator Group
The Senator Group continually invests in research to look at people, and how their environments can promote positive wellbeing. We share a team of Design Consultants, who have created inspirational spaces all over the world, from the corporate offices of HSBC, Rolls Royce and Jaguar Land Rover to the beautiful dining and lounge areas of the Mondrian Hotel in London and Cabana Bay Beach Resort in Florida.
